This Thanksgiving, HWES staff and students are very thankful for our superstar volunteer, Mr.Luther! Mr.Luther is decked out and ready to great our HWES families at the car rider line.

It's often that one of the underserved populations in school districts are English-language learners; however, thanks to the tremendous work of Dane Carter and Liliana Retama, SHCSC has a thriving ELL program assisting students and their families with college applications, job interviews, class activities and more. 👏🏽 👏🏾 👏🏿 To learn more about the work Dane & Liliana do, click here: https://bit.ly/3sxZWyK

HWES Students and Staff had the honor of celebrating and saluting our Veterans during our Veterans Day Program. Under the leadership of Music Instructor, Sara Burnett, our local heros were treated to a variety of patriotic music, educational passages, and donuts with their Heth Washington student! We appreciate all of our honored guests and their families for helping our students recognize and understand the significance of Veterans Day!

Please remember that tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7, 2023 school is not in session for students as teachers will be participating in professional development.
Please return all RSVPs for the Veterans Day breakfast by Wednesday so we may have an accurate count.
Heth Washington students were treated by one of their fellow students and his family on Friday with a pumpkin to celebrate the harvest season. Thank you to 3rd grade student, Colt, and the Simler Family for continually thinking of HWES students!

You have one week left to send your RSVPs for breakfast with our Veterans. Please ask your student for the information flier. RSVPs are due next Friday, 11-3-23.

Mr. Deatrick has had a busy month, first he was principal for the day and today he became music teacher for the day. We may have a future educator in the making!

5th grade student, Tucker, chose to have lunch with his favorite staff member HWES Librarian, Ms. Adams. Ms. Adams treated Tucker to McDonald's for his special lunch that he bid on at the HWES Fall Festival a few weeks ago.

HWES families please make sure to not let your student(s) out of your vehicle during the morning car rider line until reaching the adults that assist students. We do not want students coming towards the building with other moving vehicles in play. Thank you for helping keep our Wildcats safe!

Heth Washington was temporarily under new leadership on 10-6-23, as 1st grade student Thadd Deatrick-or should we say Mr. Deatrick was principal for the day! Mr. Deatrick enjoyed helping to lead our morning meeting and the Pledge of Allegiance to start his day. He also chose the cover for the school yearbook and helped to read in our K-2nd grade classrooms. He even treated his 1st grade classmates to extra recess, "if they were good for their teacher!" Thanks for being a great leader at HWES, Thadd!
