Announcements: Monday, October 18, 2021

The cast and crew of the fall play will rehearse in the high school auditorium on Monday and Wednesday from 3:20 - 5:00.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 19th is home Girls’ Basketball Game against Lanesville. 5th grade plays at 6PM. Good luck players!

Wednesday, October 20th is another home Girls’ Basketball Game against Clarksville. 5th grade plays at 6PM. Come and support our Lady Panthers!

Boys’ Basketball Tryouts are coming up. 5th Grade Tryouts will be held October 26th-27th from 6:30-8:00 PM in the CIS Gym. 6th Grade Tryouts will be held October 26th-27th from 5:00-6:30 PM in the CIS Gym. There is a sign-up sheet outside the office. It is very important that all kids have had their physicals before tryouts begin. Kids without physicals will not be allowed to tryout. Tryouts will be closed to parents and other non-student athletes. Also, it is not necessary to buy new basketball shoes before tryouts. After the teams are finalized, we will encourage the kids who made the teams to purchase predominately white shoes. The 5th grade coach is Justin Crawford and his number is 1-502-599-8526, and the 6th grade coach is Tommy Wiseman and his number is 812-736-6207.

Any 6th grader interested in Junior High Wrestling, there is a sign-up sheet on the table outside the office. You must have a sports physical on file to participate. No prior experience required. First mandatory practice is 11/22 @3:30PM. Pre-Season Practices which are strongly encouraged are in the Wrestling Room above the Aux Gym, at the high school, door 13 are 11/2@6-7PM, 11/4@6-7PM, 11/8@6-7PM,11/10@6-7PM, 11/16@6-7PM. 11/17@6-7PM and a short Parent Meeting is on 11/22@5:3PM in the Wrestling room.

Harrison County Community Services is offering a free hot meal to anyone in Harrison County every MONDAY 5-6:30PM at Corydon Presbyterian Church. 568 HWY 62 W., Corydon.

Book Fair starts Wednesday, October 20th and runs through Tuesday, October 26th in the Library.

No school for students on Thursday, October 21st. Parent Teacher Conferences.

Friday 10 /22 us Kona Ice Day, $3 cash.

CIS will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week the week of October 25th-29th . Red Ribbon Week is a celebration of the choice to live a healthy life free of drugs and tobacco. During that week we will have spirit days with different Red Ribbon Week themes. These are listed below.


Monday, Oct 25th—”Peace out to Drugs”- Wear Tie-Dye

Tuesday, Oct 26th— “Put a Cap on Drugs”-Wear a Hat

Wednesday, Oct. 27th—“Red Out Against Drugs” Wear Red to promote Red Ribbon Week

Thursday, Oct 28th—”Support Each Other to stay Drug Free” Dress like Twins

Friday, Oct. 29th -”Say Boo to Drugs”-Wear a school appropriate costume (No masks, weapons, fake blood, etc.)

We will also be having a door decorating contest this week. The theme is to correlate with fall/Halloween along with Red Ribbon Week. Some examples are “Drugs won’t scare me”, “Drugs are spooky”, “Leave drugs alone”, etc. A special prize will go to the students in the class that wins the contest!

Parents: Students are not allowed to ride home with other students on the bus. You will have to make other arrangements out of school please.

Many students are not bringing their water bottles and/or face masks to school. Please remind your student they need these two items daily!

Announcements: Tuesday, October 5, 2021

The Youth Cross Country Team ended their season on Saturday at the Terra Haute Junior High State Meet. Corydon girls placed 5th as a team in the JV race running against Middle Schoolers. Leading the way was Abby Lindemann, followed by Abby Helms, Sophia Horn, Gillian Delong, Mila Leghart, and Juliana Delong. Abby L. earned an All State Medal for her Top 25 finish. Way to go girls!

The Youth Cross Country boys did great as well running against Middle Schoolers. Avi Combs led the way followed by
Jude Gay, Kolten Karmire, Lennon Ehlers, and Eli Kendall. Great job boys!

Emylie Short and Gideon Broom ran in the Varsity Junior High race. Emylie helped the Junior High girls' team finish in 3rd place. She set a personal best time of 13:18.
Gideon Broom helped the Junior High boys' team place 6th. He finished with a time of 12:04. Great Job!

CIS students who are in the cast and crew of the fall play should attend rehearsal Tuesday this week in the high school auditorium. We begin after school and end at 5:00. Parents may pick up students at 5:00 at door 13.

Tonight is Papa John’s Dough Night. The class with the most sales will win a pizza party.

Tonight Girls’ Basketball is a home game against New Middletown, 5th grade only at 6PM. Come cheer on our Lady Panthers.

Thursday, 10/7 is end of the grading quarter.

Thursday, 10/7 the Girls’ Basketball team will play at Heth-Washington at 6PM.

Fall Break is next week. October 11-15th with school resuming on Monday, October 18th.
